Here’s something most of us don’t think about.  We all work our
tails off to get more website traffic.  But let me ask you this.
Is it easier to get twice the number of visitors to your website or
just double the effectiveness of your website’s homepage?
There’s something called A/B testing which means half of your
visitors will see your home page as it is today.  The other half
will see a test page.
The test page has one or two things different on it that you think
will get more people to do what you want- buy a product, sign up
for a newsletter whatever your goal is.
If you do one change on your home page you can get twice as many
people to buy without getting any more traffic.  The best part is
these tests only a take few minutes to set up.  You let them run
for a week or two and then check in the results.
But it gets even better because the tool that does this is free.
It’s called Google Website Optimizer and it’s buried in their
Adwords tool.  If you haven’t played around with it you really
should.
I recently changed the headline on my Techmafia.org website
from “Latest Tech News” to “Join Now” and Google Website optimizer
told me 25% more people joined my site.
That’s a heck of a lot easier than getting 25% more new visitors.
I can tell you it becomes a game that’s fun a profitable to play.
